Alan’s Pizza Jersey City

My partner, Alan, and I are pizza fanatics. Often in our spare time, you can find us enjoying a slice from one of NYC’s great pizzerias: Sofia Pizza Shoppe, Paulie Gee’s, or F&F Pizza.

Alan’s favorite pizza can be found in the hallowed halls of Frank Pepe’s in New Haven (and now, fortunately, Yonkers!). When the pandemic started, we both cooked more at home than we ever had in our lives! We also figured out how to make great pizza.

My role was sourcing ingredients. Many of the flours and cheeses that NYC pizzerias use are not for sale to the general public. Fortunately, we discovered Sansone Market in Long Island. Sansone is an Italian food distributor that also runs a public-facing market with all the things you need to make great pizza.

With the ingredients sourced, Alan worked on perfecting his pizza cooking technique on apartment-grade appliances. It’s challenging! But the results speak for themselves. Scroll down to check out some photos.

We are hoping to continue Alan’s Pizza as a pop-up concept with the ultimate goal of opening our own pizzeria someday.
